Why an assessment from around age 7?
At this age the first permanent incisors and molars erupt, and the jaws are still growing. An orthodontic assessment shows whether teeth and jaws are developing in harmony. In many cases it is enough to monitor development; treatment is not automatically needed.
When early treatment can make sense
Some findings are easier to influence during growth, such as a crossbite, marked crowding or a lower jaw that sits clearly too far back or forward. Early treatment aims to guide jaw development and create space for the permanent teeth. Later treatment may become simpler or shorter; whether it can be avoided entirely cannot be promised in advance.
How we proceed
After talking with you and your child, we assess tooth position, bite and jaw growth. Where needed, digital scans and radiographs complete the picture. We then explain clearly whether and when treatment is advisable and which appliance might be suitable.
A setting designed for children
Our practice has a reading corner for children and a youth lounge. We take our time so your child feels safe at every visit, and we involve parents in every decision.
This information is for general guidance and does not replace a personal examination. Whether and which treatment suits you is discussed at your first consultation.
